Family Assistance Grants
What is a Family Assistance Grant ?

A Family Assistance Grant is a $500.00 USD financial assistance grant given to a family with a child diagnosed with DIPG brain cancer. This grant can be used for purposes that benefit the child including, but not limited to, travel expenses for treatment, medical expenses, lodging, airfare, food, gas, etc.
Who Can Apply for a Family Assistance ?

Any family with a child (defined as age 18 and under) who has been diagnosed with DIPG.

The applicant must be the parent and/or legal guardian of the diagnosed child.

Priority will be given to children who are undergoing active treatment (such as radiation, pursuit of clinical trials, and/or experimental treatment) for a diagnosis of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma).
How Often Can I Apply ?

A parent/guardian can apply for a second Family Assistance Grant after six months or more has passed since the first grant was approved. Priority will be given to first time applicants and approval is dependent on funds availability.

What Documents Do I Need To Submit With The Online Application ?

Complete the online Family Assistance Grant Application.

A signed Letter of Diagnosis from the child’s treating physician is required. This must be on the physician’s letterhead and/or hospital’s letterhead stating the child’s full name, date of birth, diagnosis and date of diagnosis.

Failure to fully complete all items and/or submit the required supporting documents may result in your application being delayed or denied. If application is incomplete it will be placed on hold until all supporting documents are submitted.

A brief telephone interview with a member of the Financial Grant Team may be arranged after an application has been received.
How Long Will It Take to Receive A Grant ?

Family Assistance Grants are reviewed and approved by the Financial Grant Team the first week of each month.

The Financial Grant Team will consider all completed application submissions within thirty day and notify family via e-mail once the grant has been approved.

Application approval is dependent on available grant funds. If grant funds are not available at the time of application submission the application may be placed on hold. Once funds become available a member of the Financial Grant Team will contact you to review your application for updates and process the grant.
How Are Grants Sent ?

If you are a U.S. resident your Fmaily Assistance Grant will be sent you through the mail to the address provided on the application.

If you Iive outside the U.S. your Family Assistance Grant will be sent to you through PayPal using the PayPal address provided on the application.
